Dane G. Hansen Community GrantTo date, Decatur County is one of 26 counties in northwest Kansas that has been awarded eighteen rounds of grant funding from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. This grant fund was established to allow qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations; or educational, governmental or religious institutes per IRS, to apply for funding assistance for projects intended for Decatur County benefit. Qualifying entities may apply online; grants are awarded through a competitive application process. The Hansen Foundation has guaranteed additional rounds of funding to continue through 2029, providing continual county-wide participation in the Decatur County Strategic Doing Initiative. Decatur Community Fund for Recruitment & Retention of Healthcare Professionals
GROW is excited to announce the creation of the Decatur Community Fund for Recruitment & Retention of Healthcare Professionals. This fund was established in late 2023 by an anonymous donor with the intent to help grow, enhance and retain quality healthcare in Decatur County. An oversight committee of community leaders was formed to review, promote and guide the grant application process for the GROW Decatur County Foundation. The first grant was awarded to Decatur Health in January of 2025 for $125,000 to help in the recruiting process and hiring of a physician.
This grant is open to all areas of healthcare including established businesses wanting to grow and retain quality healthcare employees as well as new businesses and satellite locations located in Decatur County. GROW Decatur County Foundation GrantThanks to the Dane G. Hansen Foundation's Match Month Initiative, GROW has been able to set up an endowment from which community grants can be given. To date, over $1 million has been raised for this fund by the community with the Hansen Foundation's match. As this endowment fund continues to grow, a percentage of the fund balance has been made available annually to benefit Decatur County through grants dollars to help support projects throughout the county and communities within. Grant applications from the GROW Decatur County Foundation Fund accepted between February 1 and December 1 annually. For application details and guidelines, click here.
